What's an e-mail list?

Back to main page

An e-mail list (or mailing list) is a group of people who share a common interest - in our case, practicing, learning or helping others learn Spanish.

When people subscribe to an e-mail list, they add their e-mail address to the list of current members, and they become members of the list. Whenever a member posts a message to the list, this message is automatically distributed to all members, thus making it very easy for anyone to communicate with a lot of people who share his or her own interests.

An e-mail list has one or more moderators, whose task is to make that basic netiquette rules are followed by all members. In some lists moderators achieve this by reviewing all messages and filtering those they may find inadequate. That's a very time-consuming process. In Spanish Cool the moderators limit themselves to try to respond to the demands of the members.
